Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-27

This policy explains the refund and cancellation options for paid NextPDF Pro and NextPDF Enterprise licenses sold by PATEON Network Technology Inc. (“PATEON”, “we”). It is a grounded draft pending review by counsel and is not legal advice. Prices and plans are on the pricing page.

Statutory rights always prevail. The voluntary refund tracks below are offered in addition to any rights you have under applicable law. Nothing here limits or replaces your non-waivable statutory rights — in particular the EU consumer rights described in the “EU consumers” section.

Before you buy: a full trial precedes purchase

Every paid edition is preceded by a free 30-day trial that unlocks the full Enterprise feature set (encoded, watermarked, evaluation only). Because you can evaluate the engine thoroughly before paying, our voluntary refund tracks are framed accordingly.

Track 1 — 30-day major-defect refund (both delivery channels)

If, within 30 days of your initial purchase, you find a reproducible, major defect that prevents the software from performing its primary documented functions, and we cannot provide a reasonable workaround or fix within fifteen (15) business days of a detailed report, your remedy is to terminate the license and receive a full refund of the license fee. This continues the Commercial License §16 return commitment. It is voluntary and does not limit your statutory remedies.

Track 2 — 7-day no-questions refund (ionCube channel only)

For licenses delivered through the ionCube-encoded channel, you may request a no-questions refund within 7 days of purchase, worldwide, via a self-serve “request refund” action. On refund, your license key is revoked and you must delete all copies.

Signed-source tiers are excluded from Track 2. Source delivery is irreversible (the source cannot be “returned”), and this exclusion is disclosed before purchase. Source-tier purchases remain covered by Track 1 and by your statutory rights.

EU / EEA consumers

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases. This is the published default, and the 7-day goodwill track above is additive, never a replacement — it can only ever give you more time, not less.

  • Digital content supplied immediately. Where you ask us to begin supplying digital content before the 14-day period ends, EU law lets you waive the withdrawal right only if you give express prior consent and acknowledge that you thereby lose it (the two-affirmation requirement). Where a valid waiver is not completed, your 14-day withdrawal right remains in full.
  • Conformity remedy is non-waivable. The Digital Content Directive (EU) 2019/770 two-year conformity remedy is not affected by either voluntary track and is preserved in addition to them.
  • Confirmation. You receive confirmation of your purchase and these terms on a durable medium.

The checkout flow distinguishes business from consumer purchases and presents the consumer path with the waiver and the EU withdrawal mechanism. Statutory rights under your local law always take precedence over this policy.

Abuse safeguards

To keep these voluntary tracks sustainable, we may: limit the 7-day no-questions refund to one per customer (matched by email, payment instrument, and request fingerprint); revoke refunded license keys; decline a refund where a chargeback has already been raised for the same purchase; and retain refund-request logs.

How to request a refund

  • 7-day no-questions (ionCube): use the self-serve refund action provided with your purchase, or email [email protected] with your Order ID.
  • 30-day major-defect: email [email protected] with your Order ID and a detailed, reproducible report so we can attempt a fix within the §16 window.

Scope note. The checkout, the consumer/business split, the digital-content waiver, and the EU withdrawal button are part of the upcoming purchase flow (a separate stage). This page publishes the policy; until self-serve checkout is live, refund requests are handled by email at the address above.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of Taiwan (R.O.C.), with the Taipei District Court (臺灣臺北地方法院) as the forum, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rights you hold under your local law.
