Company

Built by PATEON in Taipei

NextPDF is built and maintained by PATEON Network Technology, an independent security and network engineering company.

Provenance

The open core of a commercial product

PATEON built NextPDF Core for its own document, digital signature, and validation work before releasing it under Apache-2.0.

Years of commercial production shaped NextPDF Core around audit-relevant documents and real signing workflows. PATEON then released the engine under Apache-2.0.

PATEON's operating model allocates NextPDF Pro and NextPDF Enterprise revenue to Core maintenance. The editions share the same engineering foundation.

Principles

Three rules guide the work

The marks are abstract instruments: error handling, claim scope, and inspectable evidence.

Refuse to guess

Unsupported or unsafe operations raise typed, catchable errors before the engine writes weaker or invalid output.

State the scope

Each output target keeps its edition, evidence, and validation boundary attached.

Show the evidence

Downloadable samples, auditable source, and certificate records give you evidence you can inspect.

Operating model

Built for continuity

Open core

The engine stays in your hands.

NextPDF Core remains available under Apache-2.0. You can inspect it, integrate it, and keep using the engine in your application.

Commercial maintenance

Revenue funds the Core.

NextPDF Pro and NextPDF Enterprise fund security research, conformance work, and active Core maintenance.

Review the evidence
